The Fells, Wellesley

Located in the north west corner of Wellesley, Fells (aka The Fells) neighborhood primarily north of Rte. 9, on both the east and west side of Wellesley Road. Many of the homes in the area were originally constructed in the early 1900's. Over the past 10 to 15 years however, many of the smaller homes in Fells have been torn down, and replaced with large modern luxury homes. While not unique to Fells, this on going transition of the housing stock in Wellesley, is more obviously in Fells due to it's large supply of smaller, older homes on lots that can support much larger houses. Many of the homes that historically would have been considered Wellesley starter/downsizing homes, are now selling for a premium as developers hunt for their next project.
